Butter Bar is a long-standing Italian bakery in the Old Port, Montreal. They have a traditional take to the business and their branding is almost nonexistent. The mandate was to create a fun branding system that strays away from what they currently have.
Although this festival portrays itself as a giant summertime party in the heart of Parc Jean-Drapeau. The heart of Piknic Electronic has always been about electronic music. This approach will highlight its importance which will give the event a fresh new start.
Creating an animation that enhances the music with graphically rhythmic motion.Through the process of dynamically animating each letter of the festival, curiosity and the appreciation of the music will be elevated.

For this project, I decided to take a more contemporary approach. I made a literal “butter bar” logo because I wanted it to have a connection to their name (like Apple). A company mascot was created to add a more human-like feel to the branding. Custom type was made as a unique branding tool.
Fun and playful. The result is a graphically interesting system that targets a wider audience. The playful nature of this new system will allow the company to easily adapt this new language to an endless possibility of applications.
